Six local initiatives supported by Inch Cape Construction Fund

Six community initiatives will receive support from the Inch Cape Construction Fund following the second round of grant giving for 2026.
Funds totalling £11,840 have been awarded to five community groups from Cockenzie, Port Seton and Prestonpans for a range of activities with a major focus on providing opportunities to improve health and well-being and to offer outlets for social activities to support community pride and cohesion.
The groups to receive funding are: Prestonpans Children’s Gala, Port Seton Management Committee, Edinburgh African Women’s Network, Shorelark Arts CIC and Harlawhill Day Care Centre. Summaries of the funded initiatives and the grant amount provided are below.

The Inch Cape Construction Fund, managed by independent funder Foundation Scotland, has a total of £45,000 to award to community projects and initiatives during 2026. This is the third year of the Fund’s operation.
Applications are open throughout the year for groups who would like funding for activities which help to:
- Improve physical and/or mental health and wellbeing
- Reduce isolation or loneliness within the community
- Increase access to education, learning and employment
- Improve the local environment
- Reduce food or fuel poverty
Grants are awarded roughly every three months and applications are encouraged from groups and organisations working to benefit residents of the community council areas nearest the project’s onshore substation works – Cockenzie and Port Seton, and Prestonpans.
