Six local community groups receive funding from Inch Cape

Six local community groups and charities have been granted funds through the Inch Cape Construction Fund in the final award round for 2025.

Well-being and engaged participation have been central to this round of awards, with most of the initiatives funded focusing on physical and holiday activity programmes, exercising outdoors and volunteering, as well as on fostering the Christmas spirit during the festive season.

The groups are: Enjoy Leisure; Family Service Unit Scotland (Circle); Cockenzie & Port Seton Christmas Lights; Handicabs; Prestonpans Community Centre Management Committee, and Lower Impact Living CIC.

These latest six grants totalled more than £11,000 and will primarily support people with long-term medical conditions and accessibility issues, vulnerable families, those wanting to improve their fitness and also the wider community.

During 2025, 20 different local groups and community organisations from Prestonpans and Cockenzie & Port Seton have received funding for their proposed initiatives, with a total of £37,526 awarded.

The Inch Cape Construction Fund was launched in 2024 to facilitate community projects that meet specific objectives including: helping to tackle the effects of poverty and inequality; improving the local environment and supporting sustainability.

Now entering its third year, the fund is managed by Foundation Scotland with grants awarded roughly every three months. This means that that applicants can apply at any time during the coming 12-month period (2026).

Applications are encouraged from groups and organisations working to benefit residents of the nominated community council areas, and while applicants do not need to be a registered charity they do need to meet standard eligibility criteria.

To find out more about the fund and how to apply, those interested should visit the Inch Cape Construction Fund page of the Foundation Scotland website.
