Construction Fund awards grants to five community groups

The first round of grants from the Inch Cape Construction Fund this year (2025) has awarded financial support to five community organisations from Prestonpans and Cockenzie & Port Seton.

A total of £9,500 has been provided to the groups for their specific initiatives including to the Cockenzie and Port Seton Community Choir celebrating its tenth anniversary with special events in 2025, to Longniddry Bowling Club for maintenance of its lawn green, and to Prestonpans Community Council to fund a community garden in Cuthill Park.

A further two groups were also awarded funds namely to Team East Lothian AC for frame-running equipment storage and to The Destiny Project to help the charity deliver its Young Ambassadors Programme supporting mental health.

All the initiatives in this round aim to provide platforms for social interactions, facilitate community involvement and cohesion, and support health and well-being

Now in its second year, the Inch Cape Construction Fund is managed by established grant-making organisation Foundation Scotland. It was launched in 2024 to support projects that have the specific objectives to either tackle the effects of poverty and inequality, improve the environment or to encourage sustainability within the community council areas of both Prestonpans and Cockenzie & Port Seton.

Applications for grants of up to £2,000 will be considered on a rolling basis, so eligible groups can apply at any time.
