Circular economy in action as new homes sought for specialist installation items

As Inch Cape’s offshore construction makes solid progress, the project has moved to extend the lifecycle of its specialist installation tools by offering them for sale, both supporting sustainability and the growing circular economy.

Inch Cape has initiated a process to re-sell its bespoke high-value installation tools and equipment to developers or contractors for use on upcoming offshore wind developments.

The re-sale of items including the pile installation frame, transition piece covers and lifting tools is a proactive way to dispose of assets, with re-use prioritised over decommissioning and recycling.

The aim is to give these assets a second life on future projects, an approach which aligns with Inch Cape’s broader commitment to efficient, sustainable and responsible project delivery.

The tools and equipment become available in the second half of 2026 and will be sold by UK broker Dixon Marine Consulting. A full list of the items for sale can be found here: Wind Farm Installation Equipment Sale – DMC Saleyard.

Dixon Marine Consulting Managing Director Andy Nolan said: “Inch Cape is being especially forward-thinking and proactive by offering these items for re-sale into the market.

“DMC is delighted to be using our decades of experience as offshore brokers to support them in finding a second life for these highly specialised and valuable tools.”

Inch Cape sees this re-sale process as an opportunity to share learnings with partners, strengthen industry collaboration and potentially lead to better standardisation.

Other key benefits of resale over default scrappage include: an increase in resource efficiency; reduced carbon emissions by removing the need to manufacture and transport new items; reduced waste and impact on the environment, and potential cost savings to buyers, enabling them to access proven equipment at a low cost and with no lead times.

Anyone with an interest in the items for sale should get in touch with DMC Saleyard directly.
