Granada Cranes

Davit cranes designed and made in the UK

Granada Cranes will carry out the design and manufacture of 72 davit cranes for the wind turbine platforms. The company will supply two different designs for the two foundation types: jacket and XXL monopile. The davit cranes will provide a safe method of lifting and lowering equipment from vessel to the platform.

Granada engineers will perform site-based testing and commissioning works at the foundation yards prior to offshore installation.

Outcomes

With Granada Cranes’ new facility in the village of Hawarden in Flintshire, Wales now operational, the Inch Cape contract will reward the investment the company has made in the UK. It now boasts a larger premises and increased employment base which will be utilised on the Inch Cape scope.

Each new project for Granada has the positive knock-on effect of an increase in orders for the company’s extensive UK-based supply chain. Working on Inch Cape will enable the Granada team to gain valuable insight from industry experts, and to continue to develop its best-in-class davit crane design.

Saul Ashton, Technical Sales Manager (Offshore Wind), Granada Cranes:

“We are extremely pleased to have been awarded another prestigious wind farm project. Securing this contract has been a real team effort by the Granada Renewable product and service division. The Inch Cape project is not only great news for Granada but also for our UK based supply chain. Granada having supplied over 2500 offshore davits is the UK’s leading offshore wind farm davit crane supplier”
